about

The second single from alt-pop surrealists, Plastiq.
A real one, showing a more vulnerable side to the project.

Lyrically, the song focuses on those moments when you feel like you can’t keep up with the pace, you’re rushing out the door, dropping your keys. A feeling we all know too well. The chorus serves as the moment of self-acceptance, a release from the grips of capitalism in the
patriarchy. “We should recognise that our shortcomings sometimes only exist in this context, designed to squeeze productivity out of humans. We all need to give ourselves permission to make mistakes and take our foot off the relentless accelerator.”

lyrics

Running out the front door like this
Frazzled and broken
Drop your keys into the abyss
There’s another moment gone
Girl I know you can change it
When you want to be you are fucking on it
Girl I know you won’t waste it
The wonder in this world could last all day long

Falling back into habits fear I might jump the gun
I want it to be magic see everything as one
Falling back into habits fear I might jump the gun
I want it to be magic see everything as one

Mumma still tells me to write a list
I scribble my mind runs
How do I decipher the madness
She reminds me I’m not hungry and I’m loved

You’ve got it all but be ready to take the hits
And when you fall just get back up like this
You’ve got it all but be ready to take the hits
And when you fall just get back up like this

Falling back into habits fear I might jump the gun
I want it to be magic see everything as one
Falling back into habits fear I might jump the gun
I want it to be magic see everything as one
